New Mass. Ave. restaurant to open
Mike Sylvia and Greg Hardesty, owners of H2O Sushi, are heading downtown for their second restaurant, Elements, which will open on Massachusetts Avenue for dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with lunch service soon to follow. Elements' contemporary American menu will focus on a combination of Western cooking techniques, Asian-inspired simplicity and the finest culinary resources from around the world. The emphasis is on light, pure flavors that together create an enticing dining experience. This can be enjoyed in the casual sophistication of the restaurant dining room, or on the outdoor patio, which offers views of Massachusetts Avenue and the downtown skyline.
The seasonally changing dinner menu is portioned and priced to encourage diners to try several courses. Initially, dinner courses include such items as Indiana tomato salad, salmon carpaccio, New Zealand spot prawn risotto, roasted loup de mer, and grilled beef strip loin with polenta cake. The lunch menu will include lighter fare, including seasonal salads, pastas, gourmet sandwiches and seafood specials. In addition, Elements will offer a select sushi menu available for lunch. The hours are as follows: Lunch: Monday Friday 11:00-1:30; Dinner: Tuesday Saturday 5:00-9:30. Elements is located at 415 North Alabama. Call 634-8888 for further information and reservations.
The Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop on 17 North Pennsylvania St. is celebrating its fifth anniversary in Indianapolis by throwing a downtown celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the three-hour celebration, the downtown location will sell its gourmet subs for $2 and drinks and chips for 50 cents. The store will also draw for a number of prizes, including a $250 Coach bag and a $250 gift certificate to Circle Centre Mall. In addition, WISH TV's Dick Wolfsie will be on hand to meet and greet customers. In honor of Wolfsie's beagle, Barney, who passed away last week, the downtown Jimmy John's will donate a portion of the proceeds from the event to area animal shelters in need of funds.
