Indy"s Iron Chefs: Second Helpings hosts fund-raising dinner and cooking competition
We know them as the cream of the culinary crop in Indianapolis: our city"s top chefs. Five of them will assert their culinary mastery in an Iron Chef-style cooking competition on April 27 at The Westin Indianapolis, 50 S. Capitol Ave. A cocktail reception, silent auction and family-style supper will follow. All proceeds will benefit Second Helpings.
The Indy"s Iron Chef competition begins at 3 p.m. 2002"s defending Indy"s Iron Chef, Dave Foegley (Peter"s Restaurant), will battle it out with four other chefs at the top of their cooking game. As in the case of the Food Network broadcast Iron Chef, the Hoosier equivalent will require the competing culinary masters to feature a mystery ingredient in each prepared dish. This mystery ingredient will not be revealed until the competition begins. Local celebrities will serve as judges and jury for this competition.
The nominations are all in, with over 50 chefs receiving around a thousand votes between them. The names of the successful nominees will be announced towards the end of the month.
Tickets for the 5 p.m. cocktail reception with silent auction and the 6 p.m. dinner are $75; patron-level tickets are available for $150. Tickets for Indy"s Iron Chef cost $25 for stadium seating admittance to the cooking competition and $125 for admittance to the cooking competition with tableside seating and tasting privileges.
