Tune into Too Many Cooks on WICR, 88.7 FM at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, when Patti & Gary welcome Rene’s Bakery owner Albert Rene Trevino. His tiny bakery in Broad Ripple was named “One of the 10 Great Places to Give Yourself a Cookie” by USA Today. He’ll give Patti and Gary advice on baking cakes, tarts, breads and, of course, cookies for the coming holidays.

Ivy Tech Community College’s “Culinary Expressions Cafe” has partnered with IndyEthnicFood to offer a special international dining experience Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. in the North Meridian Center Campus Auditorium. Students in Ivy Tech’s Table Service and Specialized Cuisines classes, under the direction of Ivy Tech faculty members Chef Thom England and Chef Eric Piatek, will prepare and serve the five-course meal as a practical final. Whyte Horse Winery recently opened for business in Monticello, Ind. Owners Larry and Connie Pampel have opened their tasting room in a renovated 1886 farmhouse. The tasting room retains much of its charm with elegant woodwork and antique fixtures. The two-acre vineyard grows two different varieties of grapes: Traminette and Vignoles. Chateau Thomas Winery, 6291 Cambridge Way in Plainfield, will host a Grand Wine and Turkey Tasting on Saturday, Nov. 18, with seatings at 1 and 4 p.m. The chefs at Chateau Thomas will prepare smoked, traditional, baked and deep-fried turkey, and each will be served with side dishes and desserts paired with international award-winning wines. Don’t forget that Bertolini’s in Circle Centre Mall will offer special Colts brunch features beginning at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12, Nov. 26 and Dec. 31. Brunch dates are directly related to the Indianapolis Colts 1 p.m. kickoff time.

The November Signature Dinner at Oakleys Bistro, 1464 W. 86th St., will feature wines by B.R. Cohn on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. Cost is $95 per person. Reserve your spot by calling 317-824-1231.
