Statement from Hoosiers Unite for Marriage in response to federal appellate ruling that Indiana’s same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional
INDIANAPOLIS – Hoosiers Unite for Marriage, a statewide effort dedicated to moving marriage forward for all loving and committed couples, issued the following statement in response to a ruling from the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals that Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. Last week, the court heard oral arguments in the case in Chicago.
“We are incredibly grateful that the appellate court ruled swiftly in favor of Indiana couples who are or want to be legally married in our state. This ruling means so much to the plaintiffs in this case and all couples who have long sought the same protections under law that other Hoosier families already have.
“We know that this is not likely to be the last step on the road to marriage equality, but today, love wins in Indiana.”
