Indianapolis Opera performs 'Das Rheingold' 

Richard Wagner's opera, Das Rheingold, or "The Rhine Gold," gets its first Indianapolis Opera performance with support from Maestro Mario Venzago and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at Butler University's Clowes Hall May 15 at 8 p.m. and again May 17 at 2 p.m.

An epic tale based on German mythology, this performance will be semi-staged, with the ISO on stage and singers performing from the raised and lowered pit. Sung in German with English super-titles by artists including Greer Grimsley and Elizabeth Byrne, the performance runs approximately two and a half hours with one 20-minute intermission.
