Composer, pianist and jazz legend powerhouse Ramsey Lewis will share the limelight with some of the biggest names in the music industry during the Indiana Avenue Renaissance Festival Sept. 7-10 on the grounds of the Madame Walker Building. The family-oriented four-day indoor/outdoor festival will offer stages featuring African, jazz, gospel and a little rhythm & blues music along with vendor booths and great food.
The festival showcases a variety of artforms, from music to dance and literary arts. Scheduled performances include: Sept. 7, Lamar Campbell and Spirit of Praise (indoor) 6:30 p.m. ($10); Sept. 8, Ramsey Lewis Trio (indoor) 8 p.m. ($35/$50 V.I.P. seating and reception); Sept. 8, free outdoor performances by Ori (5 p.m.), Margret Floyd (6 p.m.), Mo Betta Jazz (7 p.m.), Rob White (8 p.m.), Indy Jazz Company (9 p.m.) and Larry Calland & Conga Jazz (10 p.m.); Sept 10, free outdoor performances by Mary Moss & Friends (4 p.m.), Bill Lancton (5 p.m.), Rob Dixon & Triology (6 p.m.) and Pharez Whitted & Be Bop (7 p.m.).
