IMA and Indy Pride offer a safe space after Orlando attack

Send ‘LOVE' to Orlando

On Sunday, June 19 from 2 – 4 p.m., Indy Pride will host an event at the IMA near the ‘LOVE' sculpture. The afternoon will include a picnic and safe space for art to be made. Indy pride is calling it a "creative arts healing celebration."

According to a press release from Indy Pride:

"Send ‘LOVE' to Orlando provides a safe space for people to come together, participate in therapy through art, and show solidarity with Orlando."

The press release indicated a series of activities:
  • Write postcard letters of love and support to the community affected by the tragedy in Orlando.
  • Create rainbow chalk drawings and messages on the sidewalk surrounding Robert Indiana’s LOVE statue.
  • Make posters for display in a group photo, which will be shared on social media.
  • At 3:30 pm, gather around ‘LOVE' for an aerial photo opportunity featuring the afternoon’s artworks.
  • Food trucks
