Toronto-based instrumental rock band Holy Fuck returns to Indianapolis this weekend to headline, instead of playing the after party as they did for the MGMT show in June. The four-piece is often associated with electronic music, although no laptops or turntables are used in their live shows. Rather, the band achieves it’s trancy, electronica sound through methods of post-rock, a term described as “using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes; using guitars as facilitators of timbre and textures rather than riffs and power chords.”
Holy Fuck is known for a rowdy, uproarious show paired with an ambient, psychedelic sound akin to LCD Soundsystem, Deerhunter, and Sigur Ros. If you’re not dressing for the Zombie Walk in Broad Ripple or going to Bloomington for Passion Pit on Saturday, rest assured there is a third option for an inexpensive night out at what is guaranteed to be a wild and entertaining show.
