U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett will join the Indianapolis law firm Bose McKinney & Evans when he leaves his federal post on July 31.

Hogsett will be a partner in the firm’s litigation practice group and will start Aug. 1.

“Joe is an extremely accomplished attorney and we are thrilled to have him join our firm where his tremendous talents will be utilized to assist our clients,” Jeffrey Gaither, the firm’s managing partner, said in a statement.

Hogsett will specialize in internal investigations and corporate audits. That was his focus during four years as the federal prosecutor for the Southern District of Indiana. During his tenure, Hogsett’s office says it broke records in recent years for the most criminals charged and sentenced.

In addition, the Southern District of Indiana led the nation during Hogsett’s tenure in the average sentence length for convicted felons.

A former secretary of state, Hogsett is said to be considering a run for mayor of Indianapolis. Although Hogsett has not committed to a campaign, former U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh said recently that he’d support Hogsett if he decided to seek the office.
