Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie

For a fall festival brimming with family fun, Conner Prairie is the place to be. There are activities at every turn, including a gleefully messy pumpkin catapult, "skareoke," tarot card readings, demonstrations, puppet shows and music making. My favorite attraction was the tent that played the classic Disney version of "Sleepy Hollow" on loop, sure to inspire adults reminisce about their own Halloween adventures as they introduce their youngsters to a favorite part of their past.
The main event, a hayride featuring a few headless horsemen, offers the appropriate amount of thrills for little zombies. At about 15 minutes long, the ride is a pleasant tour of the Conner Prairie property with spooky scenes throughout. I took mine as the sun was setting and enjoyed the bright fall colors illuminated by the setting orb. Taking the ride later in the evening is sure to elicit more chills, but not enough to scare off little ones.
My only complaint is that Conner Prairie finds a way to squeeze your wallet at every turn. Bring plenty of cash for face painting, fall treats and a strategically placed gift shop.
