Grill — out

Can you recycle an old gas grill?

I have a CharBroil gas barbecue grill that has seen better days. While I don't trust attempting to refurbish it due to safety reasons, and am severely mechanically challenged. ;-) I'd rather not just toss it on the curb for Waste Management to pick up.

Are you aware of any options that might try to refurbish this for resale, or at least recycle some of the metal?

Thanks so much. Love your newsletters!!!!

Peace & joy,

I’m glad you love my newsletters. It’s fun having folks grill me with challenging green questions!

In my urban neighborhood, sometimes my first attempt at finding someone who thinks my trash is their treasure is to put it in the back alley. Someone will either pick it up to refurbish or pick it up as scrap metal. If it’s still there after a day or two, or if you don’t have an alley, you can take it to a place that recycles scrap metal. You know my favorite is RecycleForce, but there are OmniSource and other scrap metal locations all around town.

Note: A scrap metal recycler will not take the propane tank unless it has been depressurized.

You might also try or craigslist for someone who would like to refurbish your grill.

Piece & joy,
