Simon Pagenaud is still hot

The INDYCAR points leader has had fantastic weekend on the road course so far. He finished in the third spot in the combined practice chart with a time of 1:09.4248. He is also the pole sitter for today’s race. He won yesterday’s Firestone Fast Six with a speed of 1:08.6868. Pagenaud has reached the podium in every race this season, and is on a two race winning streak. He’s also the defending ALGP champion. It’s easy to say that Simon Pagenaud is a favorite to win the race.

Two drivers penalized after qualifying

Graham Rahal and Josef Newgarden both received post-qualifying penalties. According to an INDYCAR news release both teams were cited for violating rule The rule states that “a car must weigh a minimum of 1,610 pounds on road/street courses and short ovals, inclusive of all lubricants, coolants and camera or dummy camera housings.” Both drivers had their qualifying times voided and start from the back of the field. Rahal will start 24th and Newgarden will start 25th.
