Midwest Fashion Week takes over the city this week with three key events running Wednesday through Saturday.
On Wednesday, March 17 Indy Swank (1043 Virginia Ave.) will host a "Midwest Fashion Week Trunk Show" from 6-8 p.m. In the heart of Fountain Square, Indy Swank features high fashion and vintage artists and the art gallery shows artists from the local area. As a part of this year's Midwest Fashion Week, admission will be free to see all the latest spring and summer looks from designers.
Then, on Friday, March 19, Fashion Week continues with an Indy Fringe Fashion Show and Play, Farewell, Jamaica
. This event will be held at the Indy Fringe Theater (719 E. Saint Claire Ave.) at 6:30 p.m. Local up and coming designers will showcase their comprehensive designs, modeled by local celebrities. Custom-made and vintage lingerie from the local company Sweet Revenge Lingerie and Emmiliner by Emmily Clark will be featured during this event as well. Guests may also enjoy hors d'oeuvres and wine along with the award-winning play by Debra Ehrhadt. Farewell, Jamaica
is based on the writer's life and tells the story of the journey she took to escape revolution-torn Jamaica in the 1970s, along with her realization of a new beginning in America. Admission Friday night will be $30.00.
Finally, the grand finale event of Midwest Fashion Week takes place Saturday, March 20 at Scottish Rite Cathedral (650 N. Meridian St.). Attend the Black Diamond Fashion Show, featuring an exclusive Ashmore VIP Reception at 7:00 p.m. VIP admission includes several perks and is $55. Regular admission is $15 and students will get in for $10. The Black Diamond Fashion Show will feature designers Mesela, Gaby, Sachicka, Replica, and Catou. This event will continue with an after-party at Forty Five Degrees (765 Mass Ave.) celebrating the end of Midwest Fashion Week.
