Using media, video and installation art, the German artists’ team RothStauffenberg will exhibit several works using collages of feature films, recording devices and found materials at the Indianapolis Museum of Art to open the museum’s 2007 “Off the Wall” contemporary art series featuring special projects by emerging and internationally renowned artists.
Christopher Roth and Franz Stauffenberg are both based in Berlin. The duo creates multimedia environments out of found text, film and objects. This exhibition includes prior artworks “remixed” in new formats especially for the IMA galleries, concentrating on archives, film and other recording devices.
The exhibit opens Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. with a free program in the DeBoest Lecture Hall, “Throw Your TV Out the Window,” a presentation on video art history by Rosanne Altstatt, followed by an informal gallery walk-through of the RothStauffenberg exhibition.
