Freetown Village children's auditions 

This just in from Freetown Village...

Indianapolis, IN (August 11, 2009) — Auditions for the Freetown Village Children's Ensemble will take place on Tuesday, August 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church.

Freetown Village is a living history museum that depicts the lives and lifestyles of free African Americans in Indiana. The Children's Ensemble is an outreach program which highlights African and African American music and heritage through a repertoire of skits, songs, chants, dances, and spoken expressions. They perform for churches, conferences, and festivals throughout Indianapolis from October through June.

Children ages of eight through 12 may audition for the Children's Ensemble. Interested youths should prepare to sing without musical accompaniment or with a soundtrack for their audition, and be able to respond to a few questions about themselves. No former experience is necessary.

Rehearsals will be held on the third and fourth Tuesday's from 6-7 p.m. at St. Alban's Church located at 4601 N. Emerson Avenue. The fee is $65 per semester.
