However, due to a small electrical fire, Lost Lake suddenly had to shutter its doors until further notice. Luckily no one was injured in the fire, but it leaves McGee and his work family without jobs for an unknown amount of time. In its second year of business, a seemingly minor hiccup like this can wreak havoc on an establishment. With that in mind and knowing he couldn't leave his staff unemployed, McGee and team have started to hold pop-ups in bars in the surrounding area. Hey, Indianapolis is in the surrounding area.
Enter Joshua Gonzales and the team at Thunderbird. Thunderbird is hosting a Lost Lake pop-up on April 11th as a benefit for their staff. McGee and his crew will be mixing up signature Lost Lake cocktails and all bar sales will be donated to the Lost Lake crew. If you haven't had the opportunity to get to Lost Lake, the drinks and the bar are Tiki inspired and impeccably crafted. Thunderbird will be the perfect spot for them, and it's a great gesture on Gonzales' part and a reminder that Indy's bartending scene is about camaraderie and picking each other up.
The event will run from 7-11 p.m. and will feature live music from local Indianapolis bands (Big Colour, Pravada, and Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes). It's going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to try Lost Lake's impressive drinks without driving all the way to Logan Square. It's also a chance to help out a hard-working and important group that is down on their luck.
