Before the U.S. entered World War I, a number of young Americans volunteered to fight for the French, becoming the country’s first fighter pilots. The inspired-by-fact production offers superficial enactments of the standard war movie clichés. The movie looks all right and the CGI aerial fights are engaging, but damn, I’ve seen wading pools with more depth than this flick. 139 minutes. DVD INFO: Separately packaged anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen editions are available, along with a two-disc special edition. Shop carefully.
