The Feast of Lanterns Festival goes back to the 1920s, when thousands of visitors went to Spades Park to see the colorful hanging lanterns and enjoy music, dancing, performances and games. The Feast faded away in the 1940s, but was revived in 2002. This year, the festival takes place Aug. 25, noon-11 p.m. and is presented by the Near Eastside Community Organization with support from Target stores, Great Indy Neighborhoods and the Boner Community Center.
