Erin Behling: 'Circa 60'

Form meets function in Erin Behling's Circa Sixty. With an undeniably retro flair, the artist's furniture pieces are well crafted and refreshingly unique, as well as an exercise in juxtapositions: dark vs. light, steel vs. natural and old vs. new. The warm and grainy Baltic birch of a tiered side table contrasts sharply with the stainless steel magazine rack that bridges the gap between the two tiers. Snippets of vintage 1960s wallpaper with iconic orange and green flowers add a sense of ease and whimsy to the piece and contrast with the otherwise industrial form. A bench of laminated plywood is minimal in form but heavy in character as the grain of its wood is exceedingly pronounced and streaky. Built into the bench is a glass compartment for magazines, adding to it functionality. A dressing table is quaint and funky. The dark wood and holes in the front face of the table are trimmed in baby blue. Other standout pieces include wall pod-storage and drawer units, a writing desk and clocks - all with retro lines and hints of that '60s charm. Through Feb. 28; 317-634-9700.
