Ensemble Music is practically giving away season tickets as it heads into its 71st season of presenting chamber music groups from around the globe.
That's an informed decision: According to a news release, Ensemble Music is pricing a five-concert season ticket at $50 through June 30 so that patrons might pay as much or as little (well, down to $10 a concert) as the series is worth to them.
The low, low introductory price allows for converted patrons to contribute more to the non-profit's general fund after a few shows if they're so inclined. But they're not required to do so, and this is quite the appealing price point for the financially strapped classical fan.
The regular price for a season ticket is $145, and that's what you'll pay if you buy one after July 1. Single concert tickets run $30 to $40 for adults and $5 to $10 for students.
As for the season itself, take note of a couple distinctive events: A Nov. 17 visit by Johannes Quartet featuring Fred Child, the host of American Public Media's excellent Performance Today, a grabbag of recent classical performances that airs locally on 88.7 WICR; and Ensemble Music's annual contemporary show at the IMA, which will move this year from the Toby to gallery spaces on the top floor of the museum.
All concerts start at 7:30 p.m. and are at the Indiana History Center, save for Trio Eunoia's performance at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
