East coast meets L.A. chic 

It was standing-room only Saturday night at the Blu Martini as the crowd packed around a portable runway for the third annual Wicked Monkey spring fashion show. This year’s show introduced the fashion image put together by Wicked Monkey’s newly-minted director of operations, 27-year-old Eddie Divis.

A Jersey boy by birth, Divis said he wanted to showcase a new look that was “east coast meets L.A. chic.”

“My inspiration was Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City,” he said. “I wanted whimsical, girly, light, dainty and fun. But with a Euro-edge.”

The results were easy silhouettes for women and embellished denim paired with either tailored shirts or graphic tees for men.

But Divis also showed off evening looks for women that stepped away from last season’s dark, matte, and conservative looks.

“I wanted more bold colors,” he said and as evidenced by a vibrant purple-top-turned mini-dress by Double Zero.

While the primary purpose of the fashion show was to preview the spring merchandise at Wicked Monkey, Blu Martini owner, Bill Pritt, also used the night to promote Dine Out for Life which takes place Thursday, April 24.

Pritt had ads for the event flashing on the club’s television screens, and personally invited all the guests to return Thursday right before kicking off the show.

As a part of Dine Out for Life, Pritt will donate every dollar the club makes Thursday night to the Damien Center in Indianapolis — a non-profit organization that helps those with HIV or AIDS.

“We actually do a lot for charity,” Pritt said. “We have two main charities, and this is one. We give a lot and try to make a big impact.”
