Dragons re-discovered

Sept. 19, the exhibit Dragons Unearthed will open in Dinosphere’s Mann Properties Gallery of Dinosaur Imagery in the Children’s Museum. It will feature the John Lazendorf Collection of paleo art; the 66-million-year-old, first-of-its-kind, dragon-like dinosaur Dracorex hogwartsia, named in honor of the Harry Potter series of books, as well as other dinosaur specimens; interactive stations where families can fashion their own dragons from fossil evidence; and Asian artifacts from the museum’s Cultural World collection that feature dragon imagery. The exhibit explores the mythology behind dragons using true dinosaur facts.

To celebrate the exhibit’s opening, LEGO® Master Builders will create a 10-foot-tall dragon made entirely out of LEGO® bricks. Museum visitors are invited to work alongside the master builders Sept. 19-21.
