As a concerned and sympathetic union member, I read "Clamoring for Justice" article (News, Aug. 22-29) with interest. The Justice for Janitors campaign across the country highlights the struggle of the working class during a labor-unfriendly Bush Administration. Many of these janitors are immigrants and it's important for all workers not to succumb to the right-wing radio and TV propaganda on undocumented immigrants. The AFL-CIO has put forth a plan on immigration and labor law reform, which would enforce all workers' right to organize. This plan is called the Employee Free Choice Act and it was passed by the House and Senate but vetoed by President Bush. Demands for decent wages, working conditions and the right to organize will improve living standards for all workers.
