Four stars

Conseco Fieldhouse; March 7-9.

Cirque de Soleil’s Delirium tantalizes believability during a nearly two-hour action-packed spectacle of live music featuring tribal drumming and an amplified combo. Deft performers create a dance-mirage as they slither, pounce, juggle, float, free-fall, merge from floorboards, build human towers, pose, posture and strut on stilts within a barrage of projections in constant flux of figures appearing and disappearing. Metal doors, tidal waves, sky and seascapes and plants appear and disappear. Inside colors, lights and sound are visions of a world the mind falls into yet seeks to escape from. The bombardment pushes us into sleep yet the wonderment snaps us to wakefulness. Inspired magnificence of technology surrounds human performance in a setting where a giant split circular object becomes a precipice and ever-changing configurations of dancers engage in a collective search for balance in a world increasingly out of sync with reality. Amazing.
