Danny Boy Beer Works
has begun distributing their line of craft beers in cans to St. Clair County, Michigan
, where Danny Boy beers have been on tap since summer of 2015.
“We are excited to expand our line of cans into Michigan, but we are still a very small brewery focused on quality beers and innovative recipes,” said Kevin Paul, co-founder and owner of Carmel-based Danny Boy and Brockway Public House.
Danny Boy began canning in May 2016 with initial distribution in Indiana. “This is a big step for a small craft brewer that began as a dream, playing around with recipes, before building our brewery in the Village of West Clay,
” said Paul. “Quite frankly, we had to start canning because of the demand we have been getting from our customers.”
Danny Boy’s start as a nano-brewery with 5 gallon-batches in glass carboys grew to a 1/2 barrel system that could brew 1 keg at a time. With a growing following pushing the need for a larger space, Danny Boy founder/head brewer Dustin Brown and Assistant Brewer Derrek Herring partnered with Kevin Paul.
Danny Boy Beer Works broke ground in August 2013 “in the heart of the Village of West Clay” and brewed the first batch of Danny Boy beer inside the new facility in November 2014. Danny Boy now is producing about 4,000 barrels—or 8,000 kegs.
Due to the popularity and a desire to diversify its brand, an earlier news release noted Danny Boy is considering opening a brewery in Michigan to fill a craft beer niche in East Michigan.
