Louisville, Ky., native CABIN returns to Indianapolis Saturday, taking the Radio Radio stage with local acts Little Voice and Wolfy. “Indianapolis has so many great venues to play that are spread out over the city,” says frontman Noah Hewett-Ball regarding the band’s frequent shows in the state and the atmosphere and fans that greet them. “Since we began making short trips up to Indy last year, we have made a lot of great friends who we keep in touch with.”

Two of those friends, Marshall Baumgartner and Mike Menke, will record video and sound at the performance for a future DVD.

CABIN’s songs are epic in scope and feel as if they are pulled from musical influences like Andrew Bird, Wings and Radiohead. Compositions take the form of simple pop songs, straight rock and ethereal ballads. Keyboard notes waltz across musical soundscapes accompanied by “doom-da-das” that beg to be sung along with. Strings and violins skitter through songs and guitars rise up through dense melodies and plummet back into the depths from which they came.

CABIN’s sound mixes well with the symphonic pop of Wolfy and Little Voice’s guitar-driven rock. The lineup should make for one of the most satisfying performances Indianapolis has seen so far this year.
