We are working on a statewide response to bullying that includes arts and a special keynote address by Zach Wahls – known as a student who shares his life experience as the son of two mothers.
Zach Wahls, a student at the University of Iowa, has become an inspiration to many as a result of his testimony before the Iowa Legislature House Judiciary Committee in January 2011 where he spoke about his life experience as the son of two mothers and pleaded for the Committee to support legislation to allow gay marriage. Since then, Zach has been standing up and speaking out on the subjects of toleration, acceptance and inclusion. His testimony has been viewed over 18 million times on YouTube and he recently published his first book entitled My Two Moms (2012, Gotham).
