Brent Wallarab, lead trombonist with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and assistant professor of jazz studies at Indiana University, is a leading authority on classic compositions for jazz orchestras, including the work of Duke Ellington and Fletcher Henderson. The quintet, however, reflects his affection for guitarist Django Reinhardt and the 1930s quintet of the Hot Club of Paris, one of the greatest small combos in the history of jazz.
