Breakdance battle at IUPUI

The IUPUI Hip Hop Dance Crew and other IUPUI student organizations are hosting a breakdance battle April 18, 4-11 p.m. Watch as three dancer crews from Indy, Cincinnati, Bloomington and Chicago compete against each other for a prize of $300. The best freestyle dancer will win $50 by contending in a one-on-one competition.

This charitable event, titled Breakin Cancer/Battleground Zero, benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The battle takes place in IUPUI's Joseph T. Taylor Hall Courtyard on 815 W. Michigan St. and will be judged by Elusive of Ohio's Shaolin Funk, Frankie of Ohio's Death Squad and Impetus of Indiana's Floorbidden.

Lack your own dancing skills? Then just stand there and look pretty, wear the freshest outfit -- and win a prize.

The event is free for IUPUI students with a JagTag and $5 for everyone else, including battlers. If interested in competing, pre-register by e-mailing and the fee will be waived.
