The Third Annual Indianapolis Bookfest, “Unlocking the Future Through Reading,” will be held at Glendale Mall, 6101 N. Keystone Ave, June 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free.
Featured at the fair are author signings, a book club conference, self-publishing workshop, poetry salon, drummers, youth activities and more.
The keynote speaker for the event is Sister Stella S. Sabina, who has delivered over 150 lectures in the United States about women-related issues. Other featured speakers include Stephen Mosely, Joylynn Jossel, Pittershawn Palmer and more. Workshops will focus on “How to Start a Business With a Million Dollar Image on a Miserly Budget,” “Your Manuscript Is Completed: Now What?” and “How to Self-Publish That Great Novel Without Going Nuts!”
C-SPAN’s new Book TV Bus will also be part of the festival. The 45-foot bus promotes awareness of Book TV’s non-fiction book programming that airs every weekend on C-SPAN2. The Book TV Bus offers tours of its studio set, participation in an interactive demonstration about Book TV programming, the opportunity to learn how a TV show is produced and a chance to view clips from regular Book TV featured authors. While in Indianapolis, the bus crew will compile interviews with local authors such as professor John H. Stanfield and Sister Stella S. Sabina. The Book TV Bus will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and will be parked near the food court entrance.
