What if humanity went blind, except for one woman? That's the premise for Fernando Meirelles' (City of God, The Constant Gardener) adaptation of Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago's celebrated 1995 novel. Blindness had me in the beginning, lost me in the middle and sorta got me back near the end. The middle sags badly when the story takes a turn towards the trite. Julianne Moore stars, along with Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal, Yusuke Iseya, Alice Braga and Danny Glover. As an object lesson, Blindness pales in comparison to real life. As a sorta post-apocalyptic thriller, it has its moments. 120 minutes. DVD INFO: Includes an hour-long making-of documentary and deleted scenes.
