Opening April 6 with over 60 vendors (expanding to 100 vendors during the summer)
is the Binford Farmers Market, in its seventh year of offering farm-fresh produce,
artisan products and ready-to-eat offerings for the breakfast and lunch crowd. Saturday's
opening will feature music by Brett Wiscons, with musical acts to follow each weekend.
RecycleForce will once again provide electronic waste collection on the first Saturday of
each month. And Bookmamas will be trucking in local authors to the market on the third
weekend in May, June and July. Note that the market remains indoors through April.
The market is located on the northwest corner of Binford Boulevard and East 62nd Street in the Hawthorne Plaza shopping center.
What will you find at the market this spring? Early season produce includes spinach, rhubarb, and radishes still wearing traces of fertile Indiana soil. While we wait for the summer bounty, hydroponic greenhouse growers bring us fresh, living lettuce, greens, basil, and other herbs. Vendors will have eggs, beef, chicken, pork, lamb, breads and pastries, coffee and tea, and prepared food to take home for weeknight dinners.
