Bill Peet remembered

Bill Peet, remembered as one of the mainstays of the Walt Disney studios, was also a Herron grad. And so the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI will be presenting The Bill Peet Storybook Menagerie, an exhibition of Peet’s work for such films as 101 Dalmations and The Sword in the Stone, as well as his illustrations for children’s books like Chester the Worldly Pig and Fly Homer Fly. The exhibition offers a complete look at Peet’s career, from early days in Indy to Hollywood and beyond.

The show opens Nov. 30 from 5-8 p.m. You can also catch Peet’s films at Herron’s Basile Auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 8 with free showings of 101 Dalmations at 11 a.m. and The Sword in the Stone at 2 p.m. Kids ages 4 and older will also enjoy free storytelling times based on Peet’s books in the Herron Galleries at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Dec. 1-Jan. 5. The Herron Gallery is located on the campus of IUPUI at 735 W. New York St. Call 317-278-9400 for information.
