Indianapolis will continue to be the host of the Big Ten football championship game. The conference announced Thursday that the game will stay in Indianapolis through 2021. The Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament will take turns going between Chicago and Indianapolis, with Chicago's United Center hosting the event in 2019 and 2021. Indianapolis will host the tournament in 2020 and 2022 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Fieldhouse will also host the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament from 2017 to 2022.
"The Big Ten Conference and member institutions are excited to return to Chicago and Indianapolis for future football championship games and basketball tournaments," Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany told the Indianapolis Star. "We are proud of the history that we have developed with these two great cities and look forward to maintaining a significant presence in both locations."
Delany added that Indy has done a good job of providing great facilities and demonstrating a commitment to college athletics.
According to CBS Sports, the Big Ten played its first title game in Indianapolis in 2011 and originally had a five-year agreement to play the game in Indianapolis.
