It's here: your annual opportunity to vote for your favorite people, places and events that make Indy great. Vote in dozens of categories covering everything from best beer to best locally produced foods to best burlesque troupe.
Vote in four categories with approximately 25 questions per category. Simply type your choice in the box provided for each question, or if you can't remember a name or forget how to spell, we've given you a handy list of options to consider, featuring top vote getters from Best of Indy 2011, with additions based on input from the NUVO team. We'll also update the ballot during the voting process, adding popular choices that we might have overlooked but are getting a lot of votes for this year. Remember - these are only recommendations; please write in your own choice if it's not already there!
Winners will appear in the special NUVO Best of Indy City Guide on stands Wednesday, July 25! In the meantime, check out last year's Best of Indy winners.
Some rules, comments, notes:
1. We'll ask for a valid email address in order to submit your ballot. This is to cut down on ballot stuffing and also automatically make voters who submit their ballots eligible for a host of great prizes in each category.
2. The Best of Indy contest is intended and designed to shine a light on the city's best local businesses, artists and entrepreneurs. Votes cast for national chain establishments and non-residents will not count towards the final tally. Feel free to cast as many votes for McDonald's or Taco Bell as you want - who doesn't love a value meal? But understand that they won't count in the "Best Local Hamburger" or "Best Local Burrito" categories. Same if you vote for Justin Beiber as Best Local Hip-Hop artist. Not only is that just plain wrong, he doesn't live in Indy, so it's double wrong and we'll throw out the vote.
3. Votes must be relevant to the category, and those that aren't will be thrown out. Votes for Boogie Burger in the Best Local Chinese Restaurant category won't count.
4. The list of multiple choice options is provided as a suggestion only. Voters can and should write in their choice whenever their preferred candidate isn't on the list. The list is based solely on editorial discretion and is not linked to advertising sales representatives or revenue.
