March 9, 6:30 p.m., Barley Island in Broad Ripple guest brewery tapping: Founder's Nemesis, Double Trouble Imperial IPA, Red's Rye.

March 10, 6:00 p.m., New Brewhouse Party at Sun King. Newly installed is the 30 bbl brewhouse specifically designed for Sun King by Newland Systems Inc. of Abbotsford, BC, Canada. Left Lane Cruiser is performing live and food from Fat Dan's.

March 10, 6:00 p.m., Rock Bottom downtown & Rock Bottom College Park, 15th annual tapping of Fire Chief Ale. A portion of proceeds supports the Firefighters Survive Alive program to educate children about fire and life safety. Since 1997, Fire Chief Ale has raised over $1 million dollars for local fire departments and related charities.

March 12, noon, Broad Ripple Brewpub, tapping Indiana State Fair Brewers Cup Best of Show "How Now Brown Cow," a Northern English Brown by homebrewer John Mills of Evansville. Mills brewed the 'commercial release' with BRBP head brewer Kevin Matalucci as part of the award.

Broad Ripple Brewpub's "JD [Jack Daniels] Bourbon Barrel Porter" is a 6- months-aged richly nuanced version of BRBP's Monon Porter. Its ruby color, creamy head, ever-present lace and fresh chocolate coffee aroma starts the layered experience of the warming first mouthfeel with sparking bursts of vanilla for a smooth nutty finish.

Sun King's "Ring of Dingle Irish Stout," [a.k.a. dry stout or "black ale"] is an extremely dark, roasty style popularized worldwide by Guinness.

Barley Island's "Whose Ear Double" is a malty, hoppy balanced big Red Ale.

Winner of the Sun King/Indianapolis Indians Naming Contest announced March 4 at the Rathskeller.

The contest was held by the Indianapolis Indians and the beer will be on tap in Captain Morgan's Cove, the new outfield bar at Victory Field, during the first home stand of the 2011 season.
