For those of you who can haul your tired butts out of bed for a 6:30 a.m. start, the Giant Hot Air Balloon Race at the Indiana State Fair is an eerie and chimerical experience as the multicolored beasts soar magically in the air. Wow, we just talked ourselves into getting up and going to the fairgrounds! But wait, the night before, you can show up at 8:15 p.m. and walk among the balloons and interact with the pilots. The balloons will be lit at dusk. They won't be soaring, those balloons, just slightly undulating in the breeze. The fairgrounds are located at 1202 E. 38th St. For more: www.in.gov/statefair/fair.
