Hi, Renee,

We have Republic recycling curbside services with the big blue bins and yellow tops. We try to recycle everything, but are never sure about which plastics can be recycled. Many bags are numbered 4, 5 or 6 — can you please clarify?

Hi Meg,

Pretty much the only plastic that absolutely can not be recycled in your Republic curbside bin is EPS foam that is labeled #6 (block packaging foam, packing peanuts, food service foam, etc.). So, yes, the Indianapolis Republic facility will accept plastic bags for recycling.

You know what would help eliminate the confusion of whether plastic bags are recyclable or not? STOP TAKING THEM AND START USING REUSABLE SHOPPING BAGS. Mkay?

Piece out,
