Athletic, engaging and innovative

Two Indiana natives are part of the 22-member internationally recognized Hubbard Street Dance Chicago troupe coming to Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University Oct. 24, 8 p.m.

Meredith Dinocolo graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 and joined HSDC in 1996. She has been reviewed as one of the finest dramatic dancers. Shannon Alvis initially trained at the Jordan Academy of Dance at Butler. At age 9, already a seasoned ballet dancer, she saw HSDC, which is lauded for athletic, engaging and innovative choreography and the dancers’ versatility, grace and strength.

The Butler performance features three dances, one an “in preview” work by company member Alejndro Cerrudo. The other works are by Doug Varone and Naharin, both marked for their distinctive contemporary voices. Pre-performance entertainment in the lobby starts at 6:30 p.m.; pre-performance discussion is at 7:15 p.m. in the Krannert Room. Tickets are $20-$35. Clowes is at 4602 Sunset Ave. Call 317-940-6444 or go to www.ClowesHall.org for tickets.
