The afternoon event is planned from 2:30 to 4:00 PM and is geared towards families. The evening fundraiser is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 PM. All proceeds will benefit HIV/AIDS related groups in Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Haiti, and Zimbabwe.Arts for AIDS is a Columbus-based initiative formed by combining the efforts of a handful of smaller organizations that all focus on combating HIV/AIDS.
The afternoon family event will feature African arts and crafts, educational exhibits, and storytelling and drumming by the Indianapolis-based Griot Drum Ensemble. The evening fundraiser will feature Caribbean cuisine locally-crafted brews. Griot Drum Ensemble will round out the night by playing high-energy African percussion music.In addition to the $60 ticket price, funds will be raised through the sale of indigenous art from Haiti and Africa as well as Zimbabwean stone sculptures created by Edward Rumano. Rumano, who will be in attendance, will demonstrate his carving techniques using Indiana limestone during the event.
