Art, AIDS and Africa

SKIES. STRIPES. RED. ROAR. is an art show to benefit the IU Kenya/ AMPATH Partnership and the educational programs of The Studio School & Gallery. Artist Quay’s life experience and recent journey proved to be a catalyst for action, inspiring her to use her creativity and business sense to organize an evening of inspiring images and provide a gateway for others to “do something” when faced with the worldwide HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Over 100 images will be on display: photographs, watercolors, giclees and oil paintings that have been created revealing the environment, people and wildlife in Kenya and Tanzania.

One hundred percent of the ticket price is tax-deductible and will go directly to fund the programs of the IU Kenya/AMPATH Partnership. Proceeds from the art will also go to the IU Kenya Partnership and to The Studio School and Gallery, Inc.

The benefit will take place Feb. 10 at the gallery, 5610 E. Washington St. The preview begins at 5 p.m. and the general show opens at 6:30 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres and California wines will be served. Preview tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. General show tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Students are $15 with ID and children 12 and under are free. The gallery will feature this show through Feb. 24. For more info visit
