The acting United States attorney for the Southern District of Indiana announced Tuesday that William P. Crouse Jr., 39, Greenwood, Ind., was sentenced to 57 months imprisonment by U.S. District Chief Judge Larry J. McKinney following his previously entered guilty pleas to six counts of embezzling health care premiums and one count of money laundering.
Crouse was a co-owner and the CEO of TRG Marketing, a business that offered health care coverage through the TRG Health Plan. Enrollees in the TRG Health Plan paid their health care premiums to TRG Marketing. Crouse embezzled in excess of $1 million of premiums paid for coverage under the TRG Health Plan and used $546,732 of the embezzled and converted premiums to purchase his private residence.
The court also entered a money judgment of forfeiture against Crouse in the amount of $558,678.60. The sentence in this case is to run concurrent to his sentence of four years’ incarceration he is currently serving in a Florida state prison following his convictions for racketeering and for having sold the TRG Health Plan in Florida without having been licensed to do so.
