American Pianists Association is a national organization headquartered on the Butler University campus since 1982. Its mission is to discover, promote and advance young American classical and jazz pianists, ages 18-30, who are preparing for professional careers. APA offers winners of its rigorous competition equal fellowships and provides ongoing support for its Fellows, including management of careers along with cash awards and a roster of recitals and concerts nationwide. Making a musical statement in Indianapolis, APA has held competitions since 1979 and in the past has produced Indy Jazz Fest along with Kroger.
