Dwyane Wade, the All-Star guard with the Miami Heat, spoke with reporters after missing a potential game-tying shot against the Pacers last Wednesday.
Q: With the 10 turnovers you had, were you pressing a little bit tonight?
A: I wasn't pressing at all. I just made some turnovers like I normally do. I was playing the way I always play. That was the worst third quarter that I've ever been a part of. They got back in the game with a 17-0 run and we just made too many mistakes to let them back in. It was everybody, not just me. We just have to stay aggressive. We can't worry about passing up shots that are available. We will mesh as a team as the season goes on. We're not worried about that.
Q: Was the final play of the game drawn up the way it played out?
A: That is the look that we wanted. It was for either me or Antoine [Walker]. If they came to me, I was going to kick it to him and he would be open for a good look at a three. Just didn't hit it.
Q: How is the team executing its offense?
A: We moved the ball well tonight. I think we probably didn't swing it, maybe eight times or so. It just looks like you're not moving the ball when you are missing shots. And that's what we were doing, missing some shots. They got momentum. The crowd picked up and that's how they got the lead.
Q: Some people say that you can't win consistently with Shaq out of the lineup.
A: We are fine without Shaq. We're a good team. I don't think there is any team that will look at us on their schedule and say that they can have an automatic win. We will give people a tough game.
