Africa in the U.S.

Known as South Africa’s longest-running production, African Footprint will come to the Madame Walker Theatre Center Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 15 at noon and 7 p.m.
In post-apartheid South Africa, Richard Loring, the country’s foremost producer, started a school for young people interested in their performing arts. The students received their big break when they performed for Nelson Mandela and a global TV audience on Robben Island as part of millennial celebrations. This success led to the creation of African Footprint.

The 90-minute show is packed full of stomping, jiving, tapping and singing to the beat of African rhythms. For a sneak peek, check out 4B0N7zDSVHc, or go to

Tickets are $35-$80 for the evening shows; the matinee is $10, $5 for children, students and seniors. The Walker is located at 617 Indiana Ave. For reservations and information, call 317-236-2099.
