By Murray Engleheart with Arnaud Durieu
AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll contains everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the storied band, and then some.
AC/DC is legendary for its determined, no-frills approach to music. Its members grew up on the blues of Muddy Waters and the showmanship of Jerry Lee Lewis, amplifying them.
Engleheart and Durieux pay tribute by writing their book in the same basic, workmanlike fashion. It’s not exactly unbiased. After all, the book’s subtitle is The Ultimate Story of the World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band. But AC/DC’s entire history, warts and all, is chronicled. If anything’s lacking, it’s the unanswered question of why the band hasn’t released a new album in seven years. Rock and roll still needs AC/DC, now and always.
