'Accomplice' full of twists

Alley Theatre
Directed by Michelle Kelley
Through Dec. 23

It’s hard to write a review about a show like Accomplice. I can’t say much because I will give too many important things away. And really, not knowing is half the point. If I was a friend chatting with you about the show I saw over the weekend, I could just say, “Oh my gawd, it’s so cool and so bizarre, you must go see it.” As much as I would like to end it there, I can’t for print purposes.

What I can say without having to insert SPOILER ALERT is that director Michelle Kelley and the cast — Jeff Lovell, Leigh Mabry White, Neal Eggeson and Lindsay Harbert — take this weird and convoluted script and make it the most entertaining show you can see this month. While the first half is droll, it has its moments; but it’s the second half that defines the word “corker.” Just when you think you have all the twists of this murder-mystery figured out, it goes in the opposite direction of what you expected.

It’s so much fun.

So, just trust me on this one. Give it a shot. I doubt you will be sorry.

For good laughs and great tension, check out Accomplice at the Alley Theatre, 1716 N. Illinois St. Tickets are only $15. Call 317-926-8888 for reservations.
