A Grand Junction first and new brews in Muncie

(NOTE: Look for an extended profile on Indy brewer Jerry Sutherlin in the Dec. 16 issue of NUVO.)

Spencer Mason’s Dec. 7 Facebook post earns its entirety: “Tonight was a big moment for my brewing career. We tapped my first beer at Grand Junction! It's a coffee stout as an homage to my lovely wife, Lisa. I want to thank everyone who has helped get me to this moment. From Jason Fortner for getting me into the hobby. Bill Jimerson and Anita Johnson for getting me on at Great Fermentations. Chris Knott for giving me my first professional brewing opportunity, and finally to Shawn Kessel and Jon Knight for letting me design and brew my own beer for them. Plus everyone I've had the pleasure of having a beer with along the way. Cheers!”

Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company grand opening of their downtown Muncie restaurant on Dec. 15 precedes the opening of the Courtyard Hotel in which they are located.
