A day in the park

The Eighth Annual Rocky Ripple Festival Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. provides an inexpensive way to get outdoors and enjoy the waning days of warm weather and sunshine.

Located in Hohlt Park at 53rd and Crown Street, this free, family-oriented event will feature live music from several different musical genres, like bluegrass, folk and jazz. Bands such as Finest Grain and The Mysterious Bloom will grace the stage throughout the day, starting at 11 a.m.

Booths will be set up for local artists to display and sell their creative works. You will find hand-made ceramics, paintings, clothing, jewelry and more at affordable prices.

The festival also includes activities to occupy the younger members of the family, such as face painting or spinning their own pot on a potter’s wheel.

Food will be available from the Rocky Ripple Community Association and beer and wine are provided by the Broad Ripple Brew Pub.

All proceeds will benefit the Rocky Ripple Parks Endowment, which this year will provide new mulch and playground equipment repair. For more info: www.rockyripple.org.
