The cost of gasoline is higher, which makes the price of everything else go up.
Insurance is higher.
Utilities are higher than ever (Lights, Water, Natural Gas, Phone, Cable, Alarm, Internet, etc...)
The cost of food and drink is higher than ever before
Where I live, the sales tax is 9% at restaurants (7% for other businesses)
Where I live, Property Tax for a Commercial property is three times higher than a residential property
I could go on, but you get the idea.
In these conditions, who would want to own a business, who can afford it ?
So many are businesses are failing or have already failed.
It should be the governments place to create an environment conducive to running successful businesses. Our current environment is not.

There are SO MANY unemployed people in the USA.
